A Troy Grove man indicted on multiple charges stemming from an accident and police chase, during which he allegedly struck an officer.
Jason Henry, 29, of 609 Union St. was charged June 26 with aggravated battery to a police officer, aggravated resisting arrest, both felonies, plus driving under the influence, domestic assault and miscellaneous traffic charges including leaving the scene of an accident involving vehicle damage.
Henry could face 3-7 years in prison if convicted of battery to a police officer, the more serious of his two felony counts.
First-responders were dispatched to reports of a vehicle striking a tree near East Third and North 3675th roads west of Troy Grove. The driver, later identified as Henry, attempted to flee and struggled when authorities tried to place him in custody.
Investigators learned that shortly before the accident, Henry allegedly was involved in a domestic incident at his residence.
Henry subsequently was charged with domestic battery, according to the sheriff’s office.
